In the middle of making another calorimetery for one of my son's therapist's...knitting it using Noro Kureyon in a lime green/yellow/pink/purple colorway. (I think those are the "original" Booga bag colors) At first I thought, these colors are to bright for winter, but she just told me she's going to Mexico on vacation, so it should be perfect! Haven't posted here in a while, have been posting on my other journal, sophie1. My dream has come true: we're selling our house and moving to Oregon (with a few acres and hopefully some sheep). My biggest concern is buying a house within a school district that has programs for autistic children, since A has it and now M. has some "signs" of being on the "learning disorder spectrum". It's very upsetting to me that they both have this. Therapy had helped A. tremendously, hopefully we'll figure out what exactly is going on with M with further testing. I have to tidy up again as people are coming to look at the house this afternoon. Current Mood: artisticCurrent Music: Elvis |

Happy 1st frogging of 2007?
I've been working on a scarf for my sister and I put it down by mistake (where my 2 1/2 y.o son could see it)....I was in the kitchen for about 1 min and I came back into the room to see him *drumming* with my knitting needles. I wasn't crazy about the scarf design anyway(and there were a few mistakes..see how I can justify all of this?) I just frogged.the.entire.scarf. So. Onto starting another one for her today. Lesson learned: always keep your WIP way up high from lil' tots. Current Mood: indescribable |

Can Anyone Identify this yarn?? http://tinyurl.com/gswshThe bidding ended on eBay..it was listed as "Colinette Colombo hand dyed wool mohair" The colors are turquoise, peach, pink, green. I asked the seller what the name of the yarn was- she said she just "knew it was Colinette". I searched Colinetter's site everywhere and didnt see ANYTHING resembling this yarn. Arrgh!!! If anyone out there recognizes this yarn, I'll be grateful to you forever! It's so pretty, i really want it. TIA! Current Mood: hotCurrent Music: The Backyardigans |

Knitters Get Global
Read an article in National Geographic (December 2005) about the popularity knitting and the "explosion" of new yarns from around the world. Hmm, we've had yarns from around the world for years, where has NG been? havein the December issue of National Geographic magazine - just a small one page article, with a large picture of various yarns from the US, UK, Europe, Japan, Peru etc...in a basket. Interesting- "The Craft Yarn Council reports that Americans spent more than half a BILLION dollars on knitting and crocheting supplies last YEAR. In other news, I'm behind on knitting my Christmas presents and getting out my Christmas cards. Need to squeeze in some major knitting time today. Current Mood: awake |

Is Yarn Forward the same as Yarn over?
I'm working on a pattern and it reads: (YF) Yarn forward ("increase"). Is that the same as a yarn over? And if so, why didn't the designer just write "YO". TIA! Current Mood: curious |

Bad back but still knitting
Would love to get this book: Knitting In the Olda Way. On my Christmas list, I guess. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0966828925/104-9441179-5009519?v=glance&n=283155I'm out of work with a bad back for a few days - it hurts to even sit for 5 minutes (like now!) So, I'm trying to knit sideways on my back..just knitting a simple doggie blanket for my 2 lab puppies (10 weeks old!). I hope my back gets better- this is the absolute pits. Also have to hire a cleaning lady again because I can't do certain things with my back and DH certainly won't clean. She's coming tomorrow to give me an estimate- hope this lady is good, I've had a lot of "duds" in the past. Current Mood: cranky |

France is like 1968 again http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1762919Sacre Bleau! The riots in Paris has started to spread throughout the county and into Brussels and Germany. Quelle dommage. French culture has always inspired me ever since I was young. I have always been drawn to the ornate architecture, the cafes, croissants, chic style and the sleepy countysides. I didn't know until recently that I'm part French (mais non!). Their culture has inspired my knitting designs (no, no, no, ...not just berets and scarves!)- but to design something that is classic, but with an edge..something timeless and chic yet quirky. oh la la, I am so glad I'm in the USA instead of France right now. I like having a full bathroom. No wc's for me. Current Mood: snarky |
